Oily skin? This is how to get beautiful dewy and glowy skin, without the shine
When you have oily skin, the last thing you want is to look shiny. You spend most of your time trying to mattifying the heck out of your complexion. You use the best moisturiser for oily skin, followed by the best foundation for oily skin and then you keep a pack of blotting papers in your handbag at all times to absorb any irritating oil throughout the day. However, there is nothing more deseriable that super healthy skin that glows. It's important to know the difference between beautiful-lit-from-within-glow and an shiny, oily sheen. So how do you get glowy skin if you have oily skin?
Caroline Barnes, make-up artist and Max Factor UK Ambassador, gave us her tips on how to get that enviable glow whilst steering clear of grease-town.
How do you get glowy skin, if you have oily skin?
'The beauty and point of highlighting is that it amplifies your bone structure and makes your face look more beautiful - it lifts everything. And if you're tired and drained, boosting the glow to your face doesn't just make you look younger, but also fresher.'
The first step is to use the best primer for your skin type, in this case you'll want a matte primer and you want to apply it onto your t-zone.
Barnes recommends applying your foundation as normal and then using a powder illuminator, not a creamy texture. 'Remember, this is important' Barnes explains, 'if you have oily skin you should only use powders not creams or oil textures.' She uses Hourglass Amber Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette on her clients, because it's the only formulation of powder that looks like a cream and gives the most beautiful glow.

'You must be very careful to not highlight the entire face,' Barnes warns. For example, if you're worried about dull skin and want to use something that helps with radiance, like Mac's Strobe Cream, then mix it in with your foundation and then mattify with powder on the t-zone to get rid of ugly areas of shine.
